Working Hours at Baker McKenzie

How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
The Firm is very flexible regarding working in and out of the office. We don't have any official direction regarding a minimum number of "in office" hours, but most people work about 3 days per week from the office.

My team is very flexible about where you work and whether or not you are in the office - you can work from home if you want or do half and half. No one minds

Team dependent, but my team is open to work from home, start early, finish early if tasks are complete.

Generally, there is some flexibility around when you can do the work (early/late in the day) dependent on client expectations.

The Firm is flexible to your needs regarding hours - as long as you get the work done, it is largely up to you to negotiate.

My work hours are principally dictated by me, and nobody else. There is often a lot of work to do, but there is no "face time" policy at Baker McKenzie. As long as the work gets done, on time and within the expected quality parameters, nobody minds if you get into the office late, or disappear for a few hours due to a personal commitment. I think the Firm is also (in line with hopefully all employers) very flexible in terms of hours spent at home versus in the office in the post-COVID environment. I am a morning person, so I will often start early, but try to wrap up by 7 or 8 pm. I also attend footy training twice a week, which requires me to log off shortly after 5 pm, but I am happy to report that this is very much an acceptable thing to do at Baker McKenzie. It all depends on how you manage your tasks, deadlines and staff expectations. But yes, Baker McKenzie is a very flexible and generous employer in this regard.

We have a really positive culture when it comes to flexible working, even before the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, almost all people are still working from home part of the time. This creates a lot of flexibility around hours, but will always be dependent on business needs.

Very flexible with working from home. Depends, usually about 8-9 hours per day.

Working from home is optional. Hours vary depending on how much work you want to take on.

Depends on the amount of work. The company is quite flexible when it comes to hours (i.e. if not busy, leave earlier).

Current rotation: Very strong work/life balance. When you work late, others are working late together to pull a deal through. No pressure to work late / be present online for appearances sake. A few later nights, but nothing past midnight. No pressure on billable targets - totally dependent on the flow of work. Previous rotation: Much longer hours, a few nights past midnight and beginning the day much earlier. More pressure on billable targets. I enjoyed this experience also. A taste of both is a good balance,

Flexibility is key at Bakers. Depending on the work and team, you are often left to your own devices to manage your workload and capacity. You are often in communication with the entire team so that they are aware of your capacity (or lack thereof) at any given moment. Also, flexible working arrangements are available, and many make use of these opportunities.

Extremely flexible, and also very receptive to working from home.
