What you need to do

  1. Visit Baker McKenzie's pages on Prosple (must be Baker McKenzie's pages on Prosple's website only).
  2. Prepare a written submission of no longer than 150 words describing one thing you learnt about Baker McKenzie (from viewing these pages about Baker McKenzie) and why this was of interest to you.
  3. Email the submission to SeasonalClerkRecruitment.Melbourne@bakermckenzie.com, addressed to Natalie Mascarenhas, Senior Consultant – Graduate Resourcing.
  4. Include the following in your email:
    1. Your full name
    2. Your best contact number
    3. Your email address
    4. The university at which you are undertaking your law qualification
    5. your current year level for 2024.

You are able to submit 1 entry per round (as set out below in the Terms & Conditions).

Full Terms and Conditions
Law Student Career Coaching Competition (the "Promotion")

  1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions. By participating, Entrants agree to be bound by these conditions. Submissions must comply with these conditions to be valid.
  2. Entry is open to residents of Australia who are aged 18 and over, and who are currently enrolled in a law degree or equivalent which qualifies the entrant for admission as a legal practitioner in Australia (Entrants).
  3. To enter, Entrants must:
    1. Visit https://au.prosple.com/graduate-employers/baker-mckenzie and any linked pages relating to Baker McKenzie within the Prosple website;
    2. Compose a written submission of no longer than 150 words describing one thing that was learned from viewing these websites about Baker McKenzie, and why this chosen learning was of interest to them (Submission);
    3. Send the Submission by email to SeasonalClerkRecruitment.Melbourne@bakermckenzie.com, addressed to Natalie Mascarenhas, Senior Consultant – Graduate Resourcing (Submission Email).
    4. At the end of the Submission Email, state:
      1. Their full name;
      2. Their best contact number;
      3. Their email address;
      4. The university at which they are undertaking their law qualification; and
      5. Their current year level for 2024.
  4. A limit of one (1) Submission applies per Entrant, per Submission Period (as defined in clause 6).
  5. Any Submissions longer than the prescribed word limit of 150 words will not be considered.
  6. Submissions are to be submitted within the timeframes specified under the "Promotion Periods" section below, specifically between the date and time that submissions open and date and time that submissions close in each of Round 1 and Round 2 (each a Submission Period). Any Submissions submitted outside these timeframes will not be considered. The date and time stamp on the email received in the inbox of  SeasonalClerkRecruitment.Melbourne@bakermckenzie.com will be used to determine whether a Submission was within a Submission Period.
  7. This competition is a game of skill. All Submissions will be judged individually on their merits based on the following criteria by a panel of three members of the Talent Management Team of Baker McKenzie in Australia (Panel):
    1. Quality of the response;
    2. Interest in Baker McKenzie;
    3. Written skills and communication; and
    4. Compliance with the word limit.
  8. In sending a Submission Email, Entrants confirm and promise that their Submission is original and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. Entrants further warrant and agree that:
    1. they will not submit any content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, derogatory, pornographic, sexually inappropriate, politically incorrect, violent, abusive, harassing, threatening, racist, ageist, sexist, objectionable with respect to religion, origin or gender, unsuitable for persons under the age of 18 years, or otherwise unsuitable for submission;
    2. each Submission has been personally created by them, and does not breach any intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights of any third party.
  9. The Panel will select two (2) winning Submissions for each of Round 1 and Round 2 of the competition, i.e., there will be a total of four (4) winning Submissions. The Panel's decision is final and binding – no correspondence will be entered into.
  10. Competition winners will be contacted by mobile phone and email on Notification Date 1 or Notification Date 2 (as defined below), as relevant. Winners will also be announced on LinkedIn as set out below.
  11. Entrants consent to the Promoter publishing their name on the personal LinkedIn pages of the Promoter's Talent Management team members and the Prosple website.
  12. Entrants who are unsuccessful will be notified by email on the Announcement Dates by 5pm.
  13. Competition winners will be granted a 30 minute career coaching session with a member of the Talent Management team (the Prize). This may include, but is not limited to, general career advice/guidance, CV review, cover letter review and mock interview questions. This may be in person or by Zoom, as agreed by the Promoter and competition winners.
  14. Competition winners will be required to redeem the Prize within two weeks of Notification Date 1 or Notification Date 2 (as defined below), as relevant. An extension to this timeframe may be granted upon the agreement of both the member of the Talent Management team and winner.
  15. The Promoter is not responsible for any costs or expenses associated with redeeming the Prize, including any necessary travel to or from the Promoter's office, if necessary.
  16. Prizes are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash.
  17. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), or any other non-excludable rights or remedies imposed under applicable law.
  18. To the maximum extent permitted by law and subject to clause 17 above, the Promoter shall have no liability in contract, tort, statute or otherwise to any Entrant as a result of the Entrant's participation in the Promotion, except to the extent due to the Promoter's negligence, fraud or wilful misconduct.
  19. Each Entrant indemnifies the Promoter its affiliates, partners, employees, contractors, directors, and agents ("Indemnified Parties"), from and against any and all rights, causes of actions, disputes, liabilities and claims sustained or incurred by the Indemnified Parties to the extent such claims arise from the Entrant's non-compliance with these Terms, negligence, fraud or wilful misconduct.
  20. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms, judging mechanism, prizes, and prize fulfillment method at any time, by posting the amendments on the Promoter's website.
  21. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual who submits a Submission that is not in accordance with these Terms, or who is involved in any way in interfering or tampering with the conduct of this Promotion, has breached any of these Terms, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the Promotion.
  22. At any time before the end of the Promotion Period the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to terminate or suspend the Promotion, unless to do so would be prohibited by law.
  23. All Submissions will be handled in accordance with Baker McKenzie's obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Please refer to the Privacy Statement below for complete terms relating to Privacy.
  24. The Promoter is Baker & McKenzie (ABN 32 266 778 912) of Level 46, 100 Barangaroo Avenue, Sydney, NSW 2000, Australia (Promoter).
