WheelEasy is a unique charity; it provides the mobility-impaired, together with family and friends, the same opportunities as everyone to enjoy leisure time together. It does one thing only; it runs an access information web app; a TripAdvisor for access; a genuine one-stop shop, consolidating accurate, current access info; on everywhere you’d expect to go, and everything you'd expect to do on a day out or trip away. There is information on individual places: from cafés to cinemas to beaches. Information is compiled by Information Managers in conjunction with place owners (we also crowdsource info from users). It is then added to the WheelEasy map. There is also info on things to do and places to stay. Finding stuff to do, the entire group together, and unearthing truly accessible accommodation can be a real time-consuming, often fruitless headache. WheelEasy plays a pivotal role in collecting data on the accessibility of public and private spaces. This involves:

  • Updating and maintaining accurate information for various leisure destinations, including restaurants, parks, cultural sites, and entertainment venues.
  • Engaging with private and public venues to encourage the use of best practise.
  • Promoting inclusion generally, both physical and attitudinal, across Society.

Recruitment Process

If you have a passion for equity and inclusion, whether because of your own experience or your beliefs, WheelEasy would like to offer the opportunity to gain experience at an NGO with an important humanitarian purpose. Please attach your resume or/and an expression of interest, providing basic information. Your application will be reviewed once your documents have been uploaded. Your application will be assessed to ensure it meets our criteria. If your application is successful, you will be contacted by one of our team members and we will issue a placement agreement. We would then organise a Zoom meeting to specify details on the placement, such as duration, responsibilities, structure and prospects. All resources will be provided before the start of your placement and you would receive ongoing support, assistance and evaluation.

Remuneration & Career Growth

WheelEasy is a non-profit, non-monetary-based organisation dedicated to supporting people with reduced mobility. We focus on building an inclusive community and sharing valuable information for those who use mobility devices.

WheelEasy members are committed to social justice and social participation. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of our donors, which means our expenses are limited. While we understand that students may be looking for paid positions, WheelEasy is currently unable to hire new employees. However, we offer the opportunity to join a recognised NGO and advance your professional humanitarian career while gaining expertise. We provide training in social field practices, an in-depth understanding of domestic policy on disability rights, as well as legislative strategies to address the lack of accessibility information.
