About Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of NSW (IPART)

IPART provides independent regulatory decisions and advice to protect and promote the ongoing interests of NSW's consumers, taxpayers, and citizens. They are the independent regulator for the water, public transport, local government, electricity and gas industries, and the Energy Savings Scheme in NSW. IPART also undertakes reviews and investigations into a wide range of economic and policy issues and performs a number of other roles at the NSW Government’s request.

Your role

The Analyst is responsible for delivering research and technical analysis of license or accreditation applications or pricing issues and applying policies/guidelines. The Analyst also implements best practice regulatory compliance work to ensure the effective administration of the Energy Savings Scheme, water licensing and compliance activities, and the electricity distributor safety and reliability regulatory activities or participates in price reviews for regulated utilities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the preparation of publicly available discussion papers, templates, and guidance material to assist with streamlining pricing, utility licensing/accreditation assessment, and compliance processes.
  • Deliver detailed research and technical analysis for reviews and ensure that the findings of this analysis are presented in a concise, accurate, timely, and appropriate fashion.
  • Contribute to pricing determinations, special reviews, audits, and progress outcomes to ensure that they are implemented effectively and within budget.
  • Deliver detailed research and technical analysis using a risk-based approach including assessing components of the technical, financial, or operational capacity of license or accreditation applicants and providing support to decisions regarding variations, reviews, or accreditation continuation.
  • Support the process of compilation and presentation of research, technical analysis, and compliance assessments into concise, accurate, timely, and understandable briefs and reports for senior staff, the Tribunal, and the Minister to communicate findings, assessments, and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the effective administration of best practice regulatory pricing or licensing and compliance programs and policies.

Salary & benefits

Pricing and Policy Analyst (IPART Officer D) roles may earn an average of A$101,522 to A$109,777 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.
