Have you considered the damaging impact of a Trusted Insider on Australian Supply Chains? Do you want to develop strong liaison skills and be adept at engagement with industry? Do you want to grow your knowledge of Australian Customs Border activities and Australian business? Would you like to start your career working with the Australian Border Force (ABF)? A role with the Australian Trusted Trader (ATT) program may be for you.

ATT is an internationally recognised Authorized Economic Operator program, administered by the ABF. The program is established on supply chain security standards developed by the World Customs Organisation’s Framework to secure and facilitate global trade. The program accredits Australian businesses with secure supply chain and trade compliance practices, and rewards them with trade facilitation benefits that make international trade simpler and faster. ATT accredits both importers/exporters and service providers.

The Team:

ATT Operations is within the Trusted Trader and Trade Compliance Branch, and responsible for:

  • Assessment and validation of businesses seeking ATT accreditation
  • Ongoing assurance and monitoring, including revalidation of all Trusted Traders on a four year revalidation cycle
  • Monitoring potential operational and strategic risks and developing appropriate mitigations
  • Program audit and quality assurance activities
  • Provision of Account Manager Services to accredited Trusted Traders
  • Stakeholder engagement with Trusted Traders, including promotional activities to attract new applications.

The Opportunity:

You will have the opportunity to work across multiple ATT teams to ensure the delivery of operational priorities. The role is interesting and the work is high tempo. You will need to be resourceful and committed to delivering on objectives in an environment with changing priorities. This is a 12 month position allowing you to immerse yourself in the ATT operational environment where you will receive mentorship and extensive training.

ATT validates a businesses systems, processes, practices and personnel processes, through a desktop analysis and subsequent site validation visit. ATT consults with relevant ABF work areas internally as well as external government agencies, to identity issues that may preclude a business from being accredited. By risk assessing the business as a whole, rather than individual cross-border transactions, ATT provides the ABF with the ability to differentiate between low-risk traders (Trusted Traders) and those that are unknown or high-risk.

As a Support Officer in ATT you will develop a comprehensive understanding of international supply chain integrity. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the trusted insider, the malicious insider and examine governance, personnel security and security culture/awareness. You will be able to articulate how intangible, non-binary controls, are most effective in delivering supply chain security and why effective supply chain security cannot be reduced to a check list. ATT team members are given the opportunity to undertake commercial training in LEAN, Quality Management and/or other relevant disciplines.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable, which may include (but would not be limited to) the following fields: management and leadership, business, security management, accounting, public policy, customs and international trade or legal practice.

Security Clearances:

  • Ability to obtain an appropriate Commonwealth security clearance
  • Ability to obtain an Employment Suitability Check (ESC).

Eligibility and Specific Conditions of Employment

  • Obtain and maintain a current Employment Suitability Clearance
  • Satisfy a probation period
