Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) was established to deliver a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of key road projects across Victoria, including new roads, road widening, new bridges, and major freeway upgrades. MRPV manages complex and strategically important road projects from business case development through to completion connecting local communities and supporting Victoria's growing economy.  

About the program

Our six-month Internship Program is the perfect way to kickstart your career and gain on-the-job experience. You will get exposure to real infrastructure projects and have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience related to your current studies.

The MRPV Internship Program is a structured development experience that aims to build the next generation of diverse and inclusive talent ready for careers post-study. 

Eligibility

MRPV’s Internship Program aims to provide opportunities for students identifying with an underrepresented group/s who may otherwise face employment barriers. 

 To be eligible you will identify with at least one of the following underrepresented groups:  

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander  
  • Woman in STEM  
  • Living with disability (physical, intellectual, sensory, neurological and psychiatric disabilities)
  • Refugee/Asylum Seeker 
  • Low socio-economic  

You also must be:

  • currently studying a relevant undergraduate degree for the duration of the internship program; 
  • enrolled in studying for the duration Intern Program; and 
  • the holder of Australian working rights that allow you to work up to 38 hours.  

We try to give preference to students who are currently in their second to last or last years of study but welcome applications from all years.   

What’s involved

During your time as a Commercial intern with MRPV, you will be involved in a wide range of commercial activities, such as contract support and negotiations, preparation and review of documentation while supporting project teams. You will liaise with key stakeholders on commercial-related issues and contracts and provide transaction management support. You will have the opportunity to deliver your projects and improve processes and systems where possible.  

As a participant in the MRPV internship program, you will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in your selected field while completing your study
  • Flexibility to choose to work on a full-time or part-time basis where hours will be flexible to suit your Uni timetable.
  • Receive coaching and mentoring from trained professionals in your chosen discipline
  • Participate in learning and development workshops
  • Apply for industry-based learning credit towards your degree

About You

We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in kickstarting their career in Business/Commerce. It would be preferred if you have strong written and verbal communication skills, display strong attention to detail and are someone who enjoys building positive working relationships. Experience in using MS Office applications is also preferred. If you consider yourself to have a can-do attitude and are good at managing yourself in ambiguous situations, this could be the role for you!

By the MTIA COVID-19 Vaccination Policy (Policy), engagement of the successful candidate is subject to the person providing evidence to Major Road Projects Victoria confirming their Vaccination Status as ‘up-to-date' by ATAGI guidance or as an Excepted Person under the Policy. The person must provide evidence of Vaccination Status as part of the recruitment process, and their employment will be subject to the requirements of the Policy.

Successful applicants will be offered a position in June 2024 and commence employment in July 2024.
