Diversity at The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER)

9.4
9.4 rating for Diversity, based on 8 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
The work place feels very safe and has a high proportion of women staff across all levels of the hierarchy which is amazing. Having such flexible working arrangements (hours, location, etc.) has meant that I've seen mothers come back from maternity leave and be very supported.

The recruitment, retention and support of ethnic minorities, women and LGBT peoples are highly prioritised, fair and transparent. DWER actively promotes and empowers women in the workplace, and do not discriminate based on personal circumstances.

My department is committed to having an inclusive and diverse workplace. They are open to hearing peoples thoughts and concern, and openly celebrate events such as pride. They are committed to working to improve Aboriginal employment and supporting staff who need it. The graduates formed a youth network which has been overwhelmingly supported.
