What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
It is ok, but could be better
Graduate, Sydney - 15 Feb 2022
Grad pay is average/okay but it scales quickly once you leave the program
Graduate, Melbourne - 14 Feb 2022
Pay has recently been greatly improved for grads moving into permanent roles but could be higher initially to draw more talent. Bonus is significant but subject to how business is doing (which is fair enough). Could be better to compete with more recognised brands like Atlassian

It is very appropriate given the current pay for developers and how the company hands out bonuses seems to be fair.

The pay and bonuses are what I'd expect for a grad job. Bonuses are tied to both your personal performance and the company performance.

It starts small as expected for a grad but it ramps up quickly

Good bonus

REA Group is competitive with their prices, they do their research and make sure their employees are getting paid what they deserve. We also have a bonus scheme based on individual and company performance.

REA has made a good effort in trying to standardise pay across a range of groupings, gender, position etc

Bonuses could be a bit better but I also think my bonuses were affected by the COVID-19 recession. Salary is good.

The salary for the grads is pretty close to the average for my field in Australia. Salary is quite strict at REA, with negotiations being prevented for grads and a framework in place to regulate the salary of grads both during and after the program. REA has a bonus paid yearly, part dependent on individual performance and part on company performance. It's a fairly regressive system, not particularly grounded in contemporary psychology, which inevitably means a guaranteed salary and the prospect of competition between employees.

Considering we are paid to just learn without pressure on deliverables throughout the program, I think the pay is justified. It's not as high as some other places, but we're talking only by a couple grand. Once the program finishes, the salary increases quite dramatically and the scheme lasts a while with continuous generous increases. As a designer, I think it is more than most places at this skill level whilst granting all the extra benefits of company culture and flex working.

Good for a grad although equally large companies often spend a bit more on their grads

We have an entire Benefits website here at REA Group. We get discounts on loads of things, like Coles and Woolworths gift cards for example. Being that we work for the company that owns realestate.com.au, we can also get one free listing on the website a year.

We have free yoga and there (was) a massage therapist in the building. I think the unusual perk is the office itself inherently being so amazing that you want to hang out there and just have fun. There are always free drinks for celebrations.
Graduate, Melbourne - 21 Jan 2021
Free listings? Over summer we've also been able to work half-days if we have finished for the day on Friday, but that's temporary
