The grads have a 50% gender balance. There is a springboarder program to get more women into tech. REA takes this space very seriously

Women in tech is a big focus, we have both maternity and paternity leave, accepting environment for LGBTIQ+, great entry to tech program for women through holberton institute

Overall they are making a conscious effort to employ more women into the business, I think in terms of retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, the company maybe could do better - however I cant really comment as im not sure

REA Group has a great attitude towards diversity. They are striving to have a 50/50 split of women, at the moment we're at about 30/70 which is a great balance for a tech company. We have programs encouraging this split like our Springboard program which allows women looking to transition into a career of tech to do so through the program. I have never witnessed any discrimination at REA Group, we have a diversity guild ( essentially a forum) which talks all things diversity, whether that be women, LGBTQ+, disability, anything. They also organise events which always have incredible turn out.

The company talks a big game on diversity but is ultimately either uncommitted or hyper-focussed. Hiring quotas are imposed frequently, but are false-dichotomised into Male/Female dynamics and don't formally factor in gender more broadly, socio-economic background, ethnicity, sexuality, disability or other dimensions. The company also does not partake effectively in encouraging traditionally under-represented groups to enter the IT workforce. They do not, for instance, engage students at the high-school level, get involved with university events or host many events targeted at encouraging people to switch into or enter the industry. The company does, however, have an increasingly even Male/Female split, and has in the past hosted events aiming to encourage women to enter the workforce or assist them in acquiring skills to help them do so. While I can't speak to promotion or retention, the services available to employees seem generally above average. Parental leave is by most accounts good, though is unfortunately not afforded to new employees.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
They are working on creating an internship pathway so that people without a university education can gain employment at REA

they have the grad program which they always hire 50%+ women and the springboard program which is focused on women. However ethnic minorities and LGBTQ is lacking in representation and and seems like its not a big focus.

To my knowledge, I'm not sure that there is much they do to specifically attract applicants from less privileged background.

I think we try to actively keep our job ads neutral in the language they use. We also target certain groups we want to get more representation in.

Based on what I have observed, nothing explicitly. It did not appear to be a factor in the hiring process for graduates, and I have not heard of socio-economics (and associated factors) being considered in any other hiring process.

I think the grad program and the female-only Springboarder program allows for more diverse people to enter the workforce and work somewhere like REA from all different backgrounds. I'm not aware of specific lower socioeconomic targeting hiring schemes though.
