There is definitely plenty of opportunities to be promoted and it is actively encourages for grads that you are looking to improve your skills and be promoted to a developer, senior developer or higher - (there are 2 higher technical positions available above this, as well as other non-technical streams which are available)

They have recently changed the progression scheme which will allows us to quickly move through in a meritocratic way. Before there was guaranteed promotions at a slower pace while now it is faster but not guaranteed.

REA Group has a great performance review process intended to determine if someone is ready for a promotion. There is plenty of room to move and the company encourages those conversations if you feel you're ready to step up.

There are definitely opportunities to progress your career at REA and we have an internal jobs platform that makes it easy to spot these opportunities and apply for them.

Career progression is reasonably fast, though possibly not as fast as some companies may offer. For most people I've spoken to, the progression comes naturally and is expected as you become more experienced. People often move up in position by applying for internal roles either in their own team or others as vacancies arise. Other times promotions simply come as a consequence of performance review and associated career conversations. A formal framework provides for the skills and experience recommended/required at each level of seniority, and demonstrating that the requirements are clearly met is typically necessary to progress. Moving between role types (e.g. business analytics and development) is more difficult, and I've encountered few people who have managed the move. The company also seems to reward those who go above and beyond (work outside of work hours) with faster progression and/or higher bonuses, which may encourage employees burning the midnight oil to secure bonuses or promotions.

The grad program accelerates you into the REA Group ecosystem, and I think the managers here look to set you up for success and strategically place you in certain teams in the program and afterwards to ensure you can progress as much as possible.

The grad program has had some changes to how remuneration works, but it looks like the current approach is a clear and generous increase in salary regularly
