Career Prospects at Ramsay Health Care

I applied for a novice program through my two-year grad program and was fortunate to get the job.

I spoke to my NUM and said I would like to start shift leading and progress toward becoming a CN. My NUM was receptive and stated she would start myself down that track once she returns from leave

Quite a few opportunities to distinguish yourself amongst your peers and apply for promotions.

Limited opportunities for promotion without doing external education

As far as I can see, it is not hard to get better positions at my workplace. There is little staff and we are in need of experienced staff.

At this stage , I have not been orientated yet as to promotion opportunities and the steps necessary to move up the ranks.

Not really a lot of opportunities for my position, if any.

I don't feel there is many promotion though I have only just started

I am just happy with my position so far,though promotion opportunities are open to anyone

We have a large staff overturn so promotion is very easy in the company.

I think there's lot of scope for career progression if I was interested

My workplace offers a variety of opportunities including allowing us to do our RNs through our hospital as they have partnerships with some universities. You can also work your way to become a clinical nurse or specialise in a specific department like surgical or palliative.

Our hospital is small and I wouldn't say there are many career progression opportunities. I know ramsay offer a scholarship every year which is a good opportunity if anyone wants to further their education and study a post grad.

Ramsay is good and making growth possible in the healthcare ?eld - their leadership pathways, management and practitioner pathways. I have done EN's EN's grad program RN grad program and hoping to do a postgrad next year. It takes communication, initiative and persistence.

Just doing team leader sometimes.

I am happy with the opportunities that I believe are available however I have NO IDEA how to go about accessing them. In particular the EN to RN program where I can study at university to increase my skills which I am very interested in yet no one at the hospital seems to know how to go about this.

Not much promotion opportunities

The only progression from my position would require further study. When I was offered the graduate program the educator promised that further study would be an option (in terms of the hospital supporting me with time off for placements and study leave where applicable) but that educator left before I commenced and when I brought up further study, high management dismissed it and suggested that it would not be possible and that I should go for a less intensive course. I made my plans clearly known but at the time I had to reach out to the old educator and ask for advice. Now the company advertises scholarships to complete what I wanted to do 12 months ago which is frustrating. The only movement between roles is when the hospital is over staffed and if we don't take leave they threaten to send us to other facilities.

Despite almost two years here, I don't think I have progressed much in that last 20 months. I have skills and experience but I don't have any discernible pathway to advance my career or qualifications within the organisation. Consequently, I am considering opportunities with other employers.

I have only started working for the company hence I have not required about these opportunities yet
