About Us

PwC Private Tax Advisory supports some of Australia’s largest privately owned businesses and their owners in navigating the challenges of their unique financial journeys. As part of our team, you'll use your skills in accounting, tax, consulting and finance whilst developing relationships and working as part of a team.

In your role within Private Tax Advisory (Business Tax or Family Office), you will provide fully integrated tax and advisory services to your clients, including businesses across a diverse range of industries, entrepreneurs, high-net-wealth individuals and family offices. As a critical part of our client delivery team, you will be working alongside the team to solve problems that are important to our clients every day:

  • Managing and executing transactions in the private market
  • Advising clients on tax compliance matters
  • Designing and implementing structures that are fit for our client's commercial objectives
  • Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), including representing our clients during ATO engagements and managing their tax reporting obligations
  • Providing advice around the purchase of new investments or business assets
  • Supporting families as they look to transfer wealth between generations, including through their estate planning
  • Helping our clients contribute to important causes through private charities and philanthropic giving to support environmental, social and charitable agendas

What is the Trainee Program?

As a Trainee, you'll embark on a two-year journey of combined work and study with PwC. You'll join us four (4) days a week (on a full-time salary!) while you study part-time for two (2) years. You'll then take a break from full-time work to complete your degree!

Balance is important. That's why you'll receive one (1) day of paid study while you work four days a week! This means you’ll receive a full-time salary while you study! As a trainee, you’ll combine your university studies with work experience to build the perfect foundation for your career, all while receiving professional and financial support in a full-time paid role.

About the Opportunity

In the PwC Private Tax Advisory team, you’ll find yourself in a culture that values wellbeing and working together. Alongside your peers, you’ll solve problems like managing domestic and international tax issues for our clients, advising on new investment purchases for our clients, and striving to educate Next-Gen family members and business owners. You'll use your skills in accounting, tax, consulting, finance and strong relationship management skills to make an impact across various clients and industries. And along the way, you’ll build relationships and skills to set you up for a lifetime of success.

What will a normal day look like? Well, you can count on that every day you will:

  • Work in a team and interact with your clients and other stakeholders on tax compliance and tax research
  • Conceptualise and implement structures to support our clients in meeting their  commercial objectives
  • Represent our clients during engagements with the Australian Tax Office and partner with them to meet  their tax compliance objectives;
  • Help to manage and execute market transactions
  • Be surrounded strong mentors, meaningful work and plenty of networking opportunities

As a trainee in PwC Private Tax Advisory, the top three skills you’ll need to hit the ground running are:

  • Studying either Commerce, Accounting or Law
  • An understanding of key accounting and/or tax principles
  • A focus and passion for the private client space

Anticipated start date is 24 January, 2025

Your New Benefits

  • Flexible daily working hours for a work-life balance that suits you
  • Work overseas or interstate for that precious time with your family and friends
  • Paid study (and leave!), we’ll pay all the costs and give you time off to study
  • No dress code so you can feel comfortable and dress for your day
  • Yearly bonuses to reward great performance!
  • Health & fitness perks like a wellness stipend and discounted memberships
  • More family time with 26 weeks paid parental leave policy for mums, dads and foster carers
