Application Process & Interviews at Oliver Wyman Australia & New Zealand

Interview process included: 1x One-way video interview, then 4x 1 hour interviews with senior members of the firm (which all occurred over the span of a week)

2 rounds, first round was a case and fit, second round had 2 case and one fit

One partner case interview to begin process, then a full day of case interviews and behavioral interviews - final selection on the day itself

Several rounds of case and fit interviews with managers and partners

5 round of interviews, 3 case interviews and 2 behavioral

Case studies and general 'fit' interview

Typical introductory questions: Why Oliver Wyman? Why consulting? Typical behavioural questions: What would you say your top strength and weaknesses are? Case questions: Strategy cases, market sizing cases, brain teasers

Why Oliver Wyman? What has been your consulting experience so far? What made you choose to do consulting?

Typical case study questions: A) What are the revenues you can expect 'X company' to make after the first year B) Where do you see growth plays for 'X company' And behavioral interview questions e.g., "Tell me a little about yourself", "Interests, strengths & weaknesses"...

Typically were interviewer driven case interviews & estimation / sizing questions

Why do you want to work at OW? Why consulting? Challenges you have faced? What skill would you like to learn?

Largely typical case interviews with more of a focus on mathematical reasoning

Read up on the industries Oliver Wyman specialises in, the firm's culture and values, and then speak to as many people as possible at the firm to see if it's the right fit for you. Also recommend speaking to people at other consulting firms so you have something to compare to!

Practice doing case studies and understand why Oliver Wyman is different

Practice a lot of various case interviews, brush up on hypothesis creation and storyboarding. Be confident with steps & processes, while also be ready for curveballs which throw you off guard.

Practice cases with a friend who is also going through the process; speaking out loud and learning to manage time are valuable skills you won't get from reading or listening to cases

Be able to answer all the 'generic' fit interview questions. For the cases, practice with friends / family. Focus on thinking logically and in a structured way, and being able to communicate that to the interviewer.
