I work under supervision of well experienced mentors and team members who are ready to provide support with a just a tap on the shoulder. I'm expected being trained on how to act as a professional. I'm always enough to take on different roles from design to site inspections.

My responsibilities are predominantly on project construction verification which includes regular site inspections, reviewing ITPs and work methodologies. Identifying site non-conformances. Managing and monitoring proposed changes to design or construction, and liaising with designers regarding the above.

Happy with the current sets of tasks being given to me such as column design, loading diagrams, as well as introductions to floor plates design, punching shear and the use of softwares.

As a graduate structural engineer my role consists of undertaking structural design of a range of infrastructure mainly focusing on buildings. This includes hand calculations, computer modelling, reviewing drafted plans, attending meetings & site inspections.

I check and /or design structures that are going to be built ranging from residential, commercial, schools, heritage buildings and hospitals. Usually, a design concept has been made and I engineer the most efficient and cost effective way for the structure to work. I use softwares and spreadsheets to do calculations to determine if it is structurally stable. Sometimes I will make the concept myself but as a graduate, usually it is given to me. I also attend site and inspect whether the construction is according to the design that we have done. Talking to contractors and builders to solve problems on site and reviewing the materials that are being used is also very important when projects are in construction stage.

As a consultant, we act as the link between the client and contractors. On any given day I may design civil infrastructure including stormwater pipes, earthworks, roads and utilities (to name a few), but also manage the construction of these assets. This includes coordinating with local government, conducting inspections to ensure quality of construction, participating in site meetings, calculating material quantities/costs and reporting progress to the client.

As a graduate engineer, I am involved in a wide number of design projects as well as being involved with site inspections. Each project has been different and there are always opportunities to work on different style projects to continue my career development.

As an undergraduate, I am mainly preoccupied with calculating and working out things by hand.

I help clients look after the sustainability aspects of their projects and advise them on ways to best meet their environmental goals.

I am responsible for assisting in the design of projects on the go at the time by more senior engineers. This means each day is different to the last, as I am tasked with the design of sections for both steel and concrete structures. For steel structures, this may include frame layouts, member sizes, bracing and connection details. For concrete structures, this may include the design of slabs, beams or columns. Every project is an opportunity to learn something new.

It can range from designing structural systems from first principles to site visits on the projects that have been designed. I can check structural members to ensure that they are stable and most economical and find the best engineering solution possible. I can do some preliminary drafting and drawing of designed structures or research into new technologies or innovations in the industry that can be implemented on projects. I could be out on site all day conversing with contractors and builders about the project and checking the project is progressing and is in compliance with the design.

My day-to-day responsibilities consist of completing various structural design tasks including calculations, modelling and mark ups on drawings

As a graduate engineer my role is to gain as much experience as quickly as possible. I work with more experienced engineers on multiple civil projects from design applications to superintendence roles over projects in construction

completing structural comps for small sections of other engineer's projects. Shadowing experienced engineers on site visits.

talking to authorities such as sydney water, doing designs and calculations for various projects, design meetings, internal talks to other engineers regarding issues or problem solving that needs to happen on a project

I am a graduate civil engineer working in a civil team at a consulting engineering company. I assist the more senior engineers with civil design and modelling on a range of projects like subdivisions, service stations, commercial developments and mining jobs.
