Training & Personal Development at Landgate

Due to Covid-19, numerous training programs have been suspended, so our experience as a Graduate has been slightly altered. In saying that, there have been opportunities to engage in online training and Landgate constantly encourages us to seek out other training opportunities we may like to undertake.

Landgate offers training such as the Public Sector Commission Development Program. This program is specifically for recent graduates who have entered the public sector. Apart from this, we are regularly enrolled into courses and training programmes that serve to up-skill or contribute towards improving our role.

Since I moved into Market Valuation I have been very impressed with my training program. My mentor is very personable and willing to assist me in achieving my career goals.

Formal training: I have not had any 'formal' training sessions in my field other than some inductions into the public sector and Landgate. Informal training: This is where I receive most of my training. The training I receive is 'on-the-job' and I am able to ask questions where necessary. The team knows I am a graduate and I am new, so they always do their best to accommodate by answering my questions and showing me procedures.

I participate in a public sector wide development program which is external to my organisation but my organisation arranged for us graduates to take part in it. So far I've learnt skills surrounding networking, self-reflection and thinking creatively. There are also internal training programmes available and I believe I will be taking part in some of these throughout my graduate year (one of which is a leadership training program).

I haven't yet had the opportunity to experience any in house training offered by Landgate, however I know the opportunities are there and that HR is going to arrange that for us. The informal training that I am able to pick up and learn from my team members I find to be extremely useful and practical, I learn something new everyday and have many opportunities within my team to try new tasks and increase my skills.
