7.5
7.5 rating for Culture, based on 17 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
The highlight of the company is the culture. As as graduate i have worked in multiple teams, and I'm surprised by the amount of collaboration and support provided in all the teams.

Depends who you work with, some individuals make the experience not very enjoyable. Expectations are high, borderline unrealistic at times. Most people are willing to listen to questions and attempt to help. Negative culture - Inconsistent, vague. Positive culture - Supportive, encouraging, challenging.

Very difficult currently due to working from home. Team work is limited due to this. Socialisation does not happen a lot, but there are some online social meetings that happen.

Great staff focus. Could have better links with executive leaders.

Good and bad. Most people are friendly and willing to help, which is great for someone relatively new to the business like me. In some ways we are a dinosaur business still, we need to take a team approach by learning from mistakes. There is a big focus on culture improvement and moment - but this change can be slow and is sometimes disheartening.

Everyone is super friendly, including higher level managers who still have time to have a chat with you as they pass you. The occasional Friday the team will go grab a few drinks, or have the occasional after hours event to chat. Also travelling around the state together, there's a lot of time to chat and it's fantastic

90% of colleagues are quality humans. There a sprinkle of humans out there that try to bring the culture down, I suppose you'll find that anywhere.

Great in office culture, everyone is supportive and helpful. Out of office was pretty good prior to Covid

The general culture at Hydro is very good. Everyone wants to help everyone else. In 6 months I haven't had a bad experience. Teams work effectively together for the most part. There can be some issues with communication/collaboration between different areas of the business. Sometimes the structure/bureaucracy can make it harder than it needs to be to get work done. In terms of workplace socialisation, Hydro employees are very friendly in my experience. They are also more than willing to help a new graduate learn the ropes.

Some teams have a good culture some have a bad culture but all individuals are very friendly and helpful.

The company culture is moderate. The 3 sub-organisations have barriers which limit effective working across the organisation. Teamwork within most teams is strong. View of senior management can be improved.

Friendly, polite, and understanding, big focus on safety. Teams are small, which allow you to learn more from others and provides you access to leaders. After work drinks and events are always good, but not compulsory. Value a good work/life balance.

Generally a good group of people to work with, including a good social environment. Company hierarchy has quite a few layers for future progression, but some leaders at the top still make time for chat.
