Please comment on your role and day-to-day responsibilities.
When on an engagement my role is often involved with note taking, summarising and theorising problems and their solutions. As well as creating documentation to support businesses through a change or a project. Every day can be different at Escient however when on a longer project, every day can be the same. The variety however is good and so pinning down your own responsibilities can be hard. When on the bench or not on an engagement, you can be pulled into different directions helping with proposals or internal initiatives.

There's so much diversity in what I do day-to-day as a consultant. Often it's attending meetings to contribute ideas about a project, sometimes it's doing the actual work of documentation and interviewing stakeholders.

I mainly work in analyst and coordination roles in project/program management. Whilst the projects are a good opportunity at my level, I rarely feel challenged or fully utilised. This is despite my efforts to seek out opportunities to contribute.

I am a Level 1 Consultant, after completing the graduate program at Escient I decided to focus on business analysis as my main capability. As a business analysis my day-to-day responsibilities include but are not restricted to working on client engagements which consists of data analysis, documentation, requirements gathering, collaboration with teams, facilitating workshops and identifying improvement opportunities. In addition, when I’m not on a client engagement I assist with in house admin activities within Escient. This includes writing business proposals and developing training artefacts for the business analysis community of practice.
Consultant, Adelaide - 23 Jan 2024
My role as a graduate consultant is quite varied throughout the week and depends if I am working on a client or not. Day to day responsibilities will also differ depending on the engagement. However a typical engagement will involve morning and afternoon check-ins with your project team along with interviews and potentially workshops to identify or solve certain business problems. Often the engagement will be set in the backdrop of a wider project and thus coordinating with different stakeholders is paramount. Outside of client engagements, there are many learning opportunities including specialist communities of practice, lunch and learns and weekly graduate development sessions.

Day-to-day my days aren't the same, which is great to receive a breadth of exposure to consulting. Usually in a week I'll be split between client work, some internal work, including some tasks or learnings attributed to the Graduate Program
