What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
Treasury has a sharp pay progression system, new joiners do not need to stay at lower levels of pay for long.
Midlevel, Canberra - 25 Oct 2022
I think the pay is okay for a graduate role however given the current cost of living crisis I think all APS pay should be increased to match these pressures. It is really hard to save or get ahead after paying bills etc. on this salary.
Graduate, Canberra - 18 Oct 2022
Great pay - clear progression. There are no bonuses but I don't think that's an issue given that we probably shouldn't be motivated by money to do the best we can in our jobs.

Pay is pretty good.
Graduate, Canberra - 06 Oct 2022
I appreciate that Treasury contributes so much to super.
Graduate, Canberra - 06 Oct 2022
I'm unsure of bonuses per se, although the superannuation contribution is very high at 15.4%. Your starting salary is high-ish for a grad but low for the work you do. Although you should shift up the pay grades fairly quickly and regularly every 6-12 months.

Pay scales, but of course not as well as the private sector. Canberra rent is heavy, so as a grad, it's about development rather than savings. Within the first year, you are likely to be promoted and by the end of the second you should have another promotion, which gives you a better standing overall and makes it much more sustainable.

Pay is very competitive against private. The 15.5% super is wonderful to have. Make sure to take your progress against the ILS if you are wanting to jump bands

No bonuses here. Pay is average for a graduate salary. Low compared to your big consulting firms and investment banking etc.
Graduate, Canberra - 05 Oct 2022
There are no bonuses, which provides very little incentive to do a good job.
Graduate, Canberra - 05 Oct 2022
From what I hear, we are higher paid than other graduate programs. I think the pay is decent.
Graduate, Canberra - 05 Oct 2022
Pay is really good, particularly with the added super. It takes time to get to the pay level that matches your work output, but that is part of being a grad.

What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.
Flexible work arrangements (flex time)

Flexitime offers unparalleled flexibility for planning your work/life balance.

As a graduate moving from interstate I was entitled to funding towards moving costs. This was life saving as the move was very expensive and I probably would not have been able to afford it otherwise.

I didn't know about the wellbeing imbursement - which was a great surprise!

So as before, 15.4% employer superannuation. Several thousand dollars towards relocation and 4 weeks paid accommodation upon arrival in Canberra. If you have to travel for work you get travel and accommodation paid for and a daily food stipend. You can also have conference registrations and travel paid for if Treasury agrees it would be valuable for you to attend. Lastly you can apply for a $600 lifestyle allowance to go towards, sport or gym memberships or anything really.
Graduate, Canberra - 05 Oct 2022
Fitness type allowance for gym memberships, sports memberships, etc. Travel is sometimes allowed and provides accommodation, food, transport. When moving to Canberra, expenses up to a certain amount are covered.
Graduate, Canberra - 05 Oct 2022
15.5% super, lifestyle allowance (taxable $600 e.g. like $400 after tax), flex time.
