Sustainability at CSIRO

CSIRO does a lot of work in promoting, educating and improving public awareness on important issues such as climate change. It works with government to produce policy which promotes sustainability. I would say it is highly committed, but there is always more we can do to better improve our efforts.

There are too many to count. It is core to our organisation now.

Waste and several recycling bins (general, paper) are great! It would be nice to see can collection bins as well, and the money raised from that be put towards something, maybe the land for wildlife that QCAT sits on?

They not only have little footprint themselves they actively research ways in which other high polluting industries can reduce theirs.

Renewable energy installations on-site, emissions reductions through power purchase agreements, electric and hybrid vehicles in fleet.

My company has a strong commitment to sustainability, as it is one of the main areas of its work.

They care greatly about this. There are multiple initiatives currently taking place and a forum to share ideas for new sustainability goals/methods. As a research facility at the forefront of science they are also contributing to sustainability and care for the environment in that way as well.

All sorts of initiatives, literally invents methods for the country to reduce impacts.

Big recycling initiatives, electric company cars, much work being done to increase energy efficiency/reduce environmental impact

SOLAR, power research, environment research. CSIRO contributes quite a lot.

The company publishes research on maintaining environmental integrity. They also have policies to protect the environment.

Electrical vehicles

Building has feature to reduce aircon use, while still cooling the building. Auto lights. CSIRO is a science company, of course they're being as green as they can.

I haven't heard much about any specific programs, but more and more meetings are conducted online for reduced travel emissions. Bins are provided for composting and recycling.

In every action that we do, we evaluate its environmental impact.

Many of the projects CSIRO are working on are focused on reducing the environmental impact of many processes.
