We are seeking students pursuing studies in social sciences, human rights, sustainability, responsible procurement and/or international/community/public relations to join Bechtel's Summer Internship program. Working alongside the Mining and Metals Sustainability Manager you will support the delivery of sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategies across our global projects and have the opportunity to learn from a highly experienced global team whilst growing and developing your own career.

This role will assist you to develop a comprehensive understanding of industry-related sustainability initiatives such as community and Indigenous partnerships, sustainable procurement, socially and environmentally conscious project design, delivery of economic and community development; and human rights topics such as modern-day slavery prevention.

In This Role, You Will

The role will be tailored to suit the successful candidate’s skill sets and may include:

  • Analyse Sustainability and ESG trends in the mining industry.
  • Provide input into the development of the company Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.
  • Participate in the identification of Sustainability and ESG initiatives for existing and future projects.
  • Support a real large scale construction project with Sustainability and ESG planning and implementation.

Our internships run as a 12-week program over the university summer holidays commencing on Monday, 27th November 2023

About You

  • Applicants must be in their third year of their degree at an accredited university in one of the fields list above, and have,
  • Basic computer skills including competence in MS Office suite and other common software.
  • Experience in Microsoft PowerBI is highly desirable
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks.
  • Analytical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Multitasking skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet upcoming deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.
  • Indigenous and Torres Strait Island candidates are encouraged to apply
