Salary at BAE Systems Australia

5.7
5.7 rating for Salary, based on 38 reviews
What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
I am comfortable with my pay, but it is financially restrictive. I think also it is concerning that I will be on a similar pay grade for 2 more years, with limited incentive or opportunity for promotion.
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Nov 2023
Pay could be higher to keep in line with inflation and similar to other companies
Graduate, Adelaide - 08 Nov 2023
The starting pay provided is based on the Australia wide industry average, so it is not the highest. There is room for salary progression however within the company with salaries reviewed based on the performance of the employee. Within the graduate program there are set salary increase points after each year of the program based on if you achieved the necessary competencies outlined in the program.
Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Cairns - 08 Nov 2023
Acceptable.
Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Cairns - 08 Nov 2023
Good pay however not competitive with other engineering companies - seems they rely on the reputation of their grad program
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
In terms of engineering market rate, it's below average. However, it is competitive in the defence realm, and the fact that its a genuinely enjoyable job is a reasonable enough trade (for me).
Graduate, Melbourne - 06 Nov 2023
Graduate pay is relatively low, but that is reflected in the lowered responsibilities we have. I have not received any bonus yet.
Graduate, Melbourne - 06 Nov 2023
It's bad. After tax I may as well be working retail. There are no bonuses.
Graduate, Melbourne - 06 Nov 2023
Pay could be better and compared to other companies it is not the best. For graduates at least there are no bonuses.
Graduate, Adelaide - 06 Nov 2023
I believe that my pay could be improved to better match the difficult economic conditions we are currently living in.
Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Newcastle - 06 Nov 2023
I think the company pays quite well outside of the Graduate program - but my cohort of Grads were offered our positions before the extreme inflation events that have occurred over the last 12 months and I think they need to be adjusted. Grads often perform the work equivalent to those in much higher grades, but we are stuck within our 3 year progression to get shown appreciation for it.
Graduate, Adelaide - 06 Nov 2023
Uncompetitive and low for the work we are doing.
Graduate, Adelaide - 06 Nov 2023
From what i have heard from other grads in industry the salary could be better, but it was honestly more than i was expecting so I cant complain
Graduate, Adelaide - 02 Nov 2023
Graduate salaries are very low and are not competitive with other defence and engineering companies. Especially since the cost of living is now extremely high, it just doesn't meet current living standards. Also the salary we were quoted in our contracts a whole year prior to us starting has not increased which is extremely disappointing and the correct rate should have been applied, especially since a whole year had passed (from receiving contracts to starting the position). So I think we are definitely not being paid what we are worth by the company and they need to do better to keep young talent.
Graduate, Adelaide - 01 Nov 2023
Overall the pay is quite good. It starts off lower (although still high compared to other employers) and you get salary increases throughout the graduate program which is good.
Graduate, Adelaide - 29 Oct 2023
Below market rate. Not a massive problem for year 1 of a graduate program where its still a probationary time but for year 2 and 3 it is almost cripplingly low.
Graduate, Adelaide - 27 Oct 2023
The salary for graduate is pretty low for PM graduate and no bonuses.
Graduate, Adelaide - 27 Oct 2023
It is good, I don't find myself needing more.
Graduate, Adelaide - 27 Oct 2023
Pay is about the industry average for a first year graduate.
Graduate, Melbourne - 27 Oct 2023
From what I know is that we graduates this year will be earning $5,000 less then the next years lot of grads which sort of sucks, I am hoping they will adjust our next year payment increase accordingly. I know of some grads who put in just as much work and e_ort in as any of the engineers they work with and are constantly under the pump, yet they get paid the same amount as any other grad. I am not one of those workers haha, but I would be pretty upset if I was putting in countless hours of e_ort and was unable to get paid like any other engineer that is not in the grad program. Exiting the program should be allowed for those scenarios if the team wants to keep their grads. It can sometimes feel like the graduates best interest is not the first priority in the graduate program ironically enough.

Graduate, Adelaide - 29 Oct 2023
Leave policies are fairly generous. Annual leave can go negative, sick leave is three weeks after the first year. We also have volunteer leave (2 days per year) and leave for sorry business (5 days). There's also the International Profit Sharing Scheme.
