The Stepping Into program offers paid work experience for successful students and recent graduates with disability who may face significant obstacles in gaining employment.   • Our Stepping Into program can help you gain paid, hands-on work experience with leading Australian organisations.

Things you need to know about the Stepping Into Internship Program:

Over 150+ internships are available across the country (in both capital cities and regional areas). Over 42 host organisations from both public and private sector are participating this Summer. All internships are paid. Students from all degrees and disciplines are welcome to apply. Internships will generally last 4 to 8 weeks (with the opportunity for flexible work hours to manage your disability or other commitments). Program has a strong Workplace Adjustment focus. We are excited to announce that Stepping Into is now accepting recent graduates with disability who have graduated within 36 months! TAFE students are encouraged to apply, certain employers are open to recruiting Diploma and Certificate 3/4 students.

To be eligible, you need to be:

A person with any types of disability, mental health conditions, ongoing injury or chronic illness. (refer to webpage below) In your final or second-last year of university (undergraduate or postgraduate degrees), or have graduated from university within 36 months. An Australian citizen, Permanent Resident, or international student with full working rights in Australia. Live within Australia. From any field of study or degree, as long as you fit the position descriptions of the internships in your preferences.

The Stepping Into Program is for students with all types of disability including, but not limited to: physical disability, mental health conditions, sensory impairments and immunological conditions. We are happy to work with you to figure out if you meet these criteria.
