This is your opportunity to embark on a rewarding career as a Motor Mechanic in the Air Force, whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification in the process.

Your role

As a Motor Mechanic in the Air Force, you'll be responsible for maintaining a variety of vehicles and airfield support equipment. Whilst the techniques a civilian mechanic would use are similar, the range of equipment you'll maintain is not. From aviation vehicles and aircraft loading systems to aircraft arrestor systems and refuelling equipment, there will be no lack of variety.

You'll be part of an important support team and provided with world-class training to develop your skills, including tailored electrical/electronic training to further broaden the range of equipment you work on.

On top of this, not only will your training provide you with a trade proficiency, but you'll also gain excellent skills for your long-term employment prospects as your trade training is fully accredited with exportability into the civilian community, providing a broader scope for your future employment.

No two days will be the same in this role, and on top of this, your 'workshop' could be in one of many locations across Australia, and even overseas.

This is your chance to carry out critical mechanical work in an exciting aviation environment.

Salary

You'll earn a good salary from day one, with a starting salary of $50,272 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation when you begin your training, which increases as you progress.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $71,817 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation.

Location

Upon completion of your training in Wagga Wagga, NSW and Victoria, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia such as RAAF Base Amberley, RAAF Base Darwin or RAAF Base Tindal.

Life in the Air Force

When you join the Air Force, you'll benefit from our investment in your professional growth and development, enjoy great work/life balance, a supportive team environment and extensive benefits – from free healthcare to excellent fitness facilities. Plus, there's the potential for overseas travel.

In addition, there are the meaningful experiences that come with serving your country. From participating in Air Force exercises and operations to providing support to communities in need, this is your opportunity to take on a career with many rewarding dimensions.

Apply now

For this role, you must be an Australian citizen, over 17 at the time of enlistment and have completed a Year 10 education with passes in English, Mathematics and Science (preferably with a Physics component).

You must also be able to obtain a security clearance and meet the minimum medical and fitness requirements. More information is available here:
