Opportunity Expired
This is your opportunity to gain nationally-recognised cookery qualifications – or make the most of those you already have – in a variety of lively workplaces, all whilst keeping Air Force personnel healthy and well-nourished.
Your role
When you become a Chef in the Air Force, you'll be playing a critical role by working in a range of well-equipped kitchens to help keep Air Force personnel nourished.
No ordinary cooking job, this role offers far more variety than you'll find in the civilian world – one week you could be on base preparing meals for a VIP event, the next week you could be preparing meals in a deployable kitchen or in an airborne galley.
The Air Force is committed to developing the professional skills and knowledge of our Chefs. Whether you already have experience or you're just starting out, you'll be trained in all aspects of food preparation and production – including planning and procurement. We inspire camaraderie through social and professional networking, and the experience and qualifications you gain in this role will benefit you in the future, both in and out of the Air Force.
This is your chance to carry out a highly rewarding role whilst also gaining transferrable skills and qualifications.
Salary
You'll earn a good salary from day one, with a starting salary of $50,272 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation when you begin your training, which increases as you progress.
On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $68,294 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation.
Location
Upon completion of your training in Wagga Wagga, NSW and Victoria, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia such as RAAF Base Amberley, RAAF Base Darwin or RAAF Base Tindal.
Life in the Air Force
When you join the Air Force, you'll benefit from our investment in your professional growth and development, enjoy great work/life balance, a supportive team environment and extensive benefits – from free healthcare to excellent fitness facilities. Plus, there's the potential for overseas travel.
