Management at Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)

I am extremely happy with my manager. I feel like we know each other for a long time. She is always supportive and encouraging. I was able to made some contributions to the organisation with her support.

My direct manager I am very satisfied with. However when you wish to speak to the higher ups often you feel as if you are bothering them.

Poor supervisor, negatively impacts entire experience, internal communication is good at an ABS wide level but lacking within section.

In my experience, managers are great and pay attention to employees when they can.

Direct line management are helpful and provide great leadership.

Most managers have been professional, supportive and approachable.

Managers are approachable and encourage you to speak to them if you have any concerns. My immediate supervisor is very down to earth and fantastic with communication, providing feedback and advice for my career.

Good internal communication and performance feedback every quarter.

My current one is great

Some senior executive members pace around the floor and ask questions, some even schedule in 1-1 meetings. Executive level staff and managers are extremely supportive and it feels like a mentoring opportunity.

Direct management good at providing feedback and offering development opportunities. Senior executive are more abstract and offer less interaction.

Really mixed depending on team.
