Your role

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated law student who enjoys working collaboratively with others and has a genuine interest in the media.

Working with senior lawyers, you will provide basic administrative assistance to the ABC legal team as well as:

  • Assist ABC lawyers with legal research, litigation and admin support as required
  • Assist with the development of training and reference materials
  • Assist with answering the Prepublication phone line, connect calls from ABC's external and internal clients with appropriate departments and personnel quickly and efficiently

You will also be given opportunities to learn from experienced lawyers who perform a range of tasks in the media law and entertainment fields.

Compensation & benefits

The yearly salary for the Paralegal, Disputes & Litigation vacancy is AUD 66,000 to AUD 72,000 (pro rata) + choice of 15.4% super through ABC Superannuation fund (or 11% through your own super fund). They offer flexible salary packaging arrangements through an external provider allowing you to effectively salary sacrifice to suit your individual financial requirements. If you also have the following attributes, they would love to hear from you:

  • Curious and driven with a keen interest in the media
  • Enrolled in 4th year of an undergraduate law degree or 2nd year of a Juris Doctor/Graduate Law program, or beyond, preferably completed or enrolled to study evidence, civil litigation, media law and intellectual property law
  • Good clerical, basic drafting, researching and proofreading skills
  • Sound oral and written communication skills
