Culture at AECOM

8.3
8.3 rating for Culture, based on 92 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Culture is good. People seem to be low key and upper management is very approachable. There are plenty of opportunities for socialising with sports club, friday drinks, Connect events, morning teas in every occasion and LOTS and LOTS of food.

Good to have ability to network with other grads

Strong culture aided by the young professional committee (Connect).

Good team to work with. Hierarchy doesn't really exist amongst the team.

Generally good, some teams are pretty progressive The R+I team are misogynists

There is a culture club which put on different events during and after work. On Friday our team goes out to lunch and we occasionally do social events outside of work.

Culture, diversity, and professionalism are why I feel great working at AECOM.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Nov 2023
Good company culture with healthy communication between management levels and a comfortable work place for all people. Socializing is perhaps average or just below.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Nov 2023
There is little hierarchy imbalance, people higher than me in my team treat me with respect and courtesy. Everybody was friendly and welcoming.
Graduate, Perth - 09 Nov 2023
Great culture between graduates/early professionals, usually have events after work such as bars, networking and sport. High prioritization on company culture including monthly drinks to network with other colleagues. Multi-layered hierarchy allows for lots of progression and opportunities for promotion.

Team is good. AECOM hold plenty of social events that you can join. You can choose to join or not, it is not mandatory.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
Every person I have come across has been welcoming and supportive, both in a professional and person sense. Though there are clear roles within our team, there is no sense of hierarchy and I can speak openly with any of my colleagues about my concerns regardless of their position.

My team are actually improving on not being in the office really late in the evening. We have a good work culture and wellbeing is front of mind for our team.

The company's culture is improving. For younger people it is great, but I think more could be done by the business to organise events and improve the culture/ connectivity of the office.
Graduate, Auckland - 08 Nov 2023
Great, very accepting environment and you are encouraged and empowered to work with and alongside seniors/directors/etc. and you don't feel for the most part like it is top down. The team really wants graduates to succeed. Great out of work socialising as well, through the early professional program and various team events.

Within my team, the culture is amazing. It very much feels like a family. The team is diverse and supportive. We regularly have social functions, and everyone is always approachable, regardless of position. We learn together and work together and it is extremely satisfying to see deliverables get out the door. When facing tight deadlines or resource constraints, we all pitch in and get things done with and for each other, making times that could be stressful and fracturing opportunities to strengthen our relationships and trust in each other.

So far the team has been great, everyone is happy to help ranging from other graduates, senior ecologists and directors. I am yet to socialise after hours but looking forward to the Xmas party.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Nov 2023
I would say it's very welcoming and quiet accepting of people's differences.
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Nov 2023
There is a good culture among the early professionals and the Connect group has a lot of events both during work and outside of work. The higher levels have a less active culture and post-covid there has been a big decrease in events, social gatherings and people in the office.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
We hot-desk at work and the whole team sits together. There's always banter between teammates and my opinions and suggestions are taken very seriously. I am comfortable enough to tell my team that I don't know something and the people manager will immediately assist me and organize a training for me to gain more knowledge on the same. The senior managers, engineers and group leaders treat me as an equal. There's always time for coffee and someone to share the work load with. The company has great culture and most days I prefer being in the office as its more fun. AECOM also organizes after-work drinks. The staff enjoy socializing both inside and outside of work and we've built meaningful friendships.
