I think that promotion for the first couple of years is good and linear, i feel like it stagnates towards the 5-10yr mark and the pay increase associated with early promotions is not up to the market value.

Fixed promotion for graduates after 18months. No opportunities to accelerate. Post professional promotion opportunities are available in October and are usually advocated.

Promotion opportunities seem almost guaranteed but there is no way to differentiate what actually will help us move up the ranks in the company. Performance almost seems irrelevant to promotions at the early professional level.

I am privileged to be in a team that has a strong pipeline of big projects for the next ten years. Within my team are senior people who have specialized in different aspects of my field and have provided insight into the different progression paths available for me. AECOM emphasizes mentoring, and there is plenty of resources on career paths for people at all skill levels. Moving up the ranks takes a combination of collaborative goal-setting with your manager and working hard to achieve these goals to develop yourself and the business.

After the graduate program, you are automatically promoted to professional engineer. Depending on performance and amount of experience, professionals will be promoted to senior and then principal engineer. For higher levels, there are different career pathways including technical, client and management focused roles.

Hard to say due to being locked in the grad program which rules out promotions for the 1.5 years the program takes. Otherwise, it seems regular promotions and rewards being offered to colleagues professional level and above.
